Senior Agent Kai Talbot takes the lead on the murder of an NCIS agent, a man she knew from her past who had been there for her in the worse time of her life. While on scene, a second body is found, one that hasn’t been identified yet. As the evidence begins to come to light, Davis Nishida, Special Agent from the Coast Guard Investigative Service shows up at her office stating that the man they have down in the morgue is one of their own. She’d worked briefly with Davis and was glad for the short duration. The man took her out of her comfort zone and tested her control. His dark good looks, his take charge attitude, and the chemistry that sizzles between them all adds up to a serious problem. A lifetime ago she lost so tragically that she never wants to be that vulnerable again. But Davis stirs something in her that is irresistible and compelling. Davis finds himself back in the presence of Kai, the intriguing, tough but fair leader of the crack NCIS team. He’s there to join in on the hunt for the persons responsible for the deaths of the agents, his involvement sanctioned and approved by the OCDETF, the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force of which he’s a member. He was the CGIS agent that should be lying on a slab. He intends to see this through no matter the cost. When a third body surfaces, he’s identified as a small-time drug dealer in Ecuador, a primarily transit country providing drug traffickers maritime routes to ship their cocaine out of the country. With guilt riding him over his fellow agent’s death, the tempting and captivating presence of Kai, a sensual pressure undermining his control, this assignment if already pushing so many buttons. He vows his duty will come before his personal desires and working with Kai combines business and pleasure into a volatile mix.
