The SEALs are deployed to Ecuador to find the wreckage of an unmanned aerial vehicle, the chopper of marines that crashed somewhere in the dense jungle in their search for it along with the hellfire missiles it was carrying. The hellfires, and Americans couldn’t fall into enterprising hands. While on their way to the wreckage, they come across a young redhead running from armed men. They intervene, save her and discover she’s a graduate student working on her dissertation on jaguars. Soon to be Dr. Emily Shade, as she reminds him, looks to be about twelve, but she’s a bona fide twenty-six-year-old Zoology graduate student, all of five feet two inches of fiery attitude, cute as a button, ethereal as a pixie. So not his type, but he can’t seem to help himself. Unable to get her to safety, and in the face of her outrage, they have to take her with them until they can safely extract her from the jungle.
Emily can’t believe she was chased by drug runners, then commanded by military Neanderthals, especially the guy Brawler who calls her little lady and red. All she needs to do is collect her data, then finish up her dissertation to get her doctorate. Any delay could spell disaster for her in her dream job of becoming part of big cat rescue in San Diego where she’s from. Brawler likes to order her around which taps into her fiery temper, except there’s something so earthy, so male about him, her body overrules her librarian brain. Could her determination to get the data she needs, put her in terrible danger along with her willful fantasy lead to heartache with big, bad, beautiful Brawler?
